“What is interesting to me about this work… Naira Has No Gender is not the immediate political comment that drives the play, but the theatrical means that are employed. One aspect that I have become engaged with is its language. Obafemi; in Naria Has No Gender, offers three fascinatingly different registers of speech and by the use of each, establishes his characters firmly in the understanding of the audience.
